"There are few retail outlets in the bathroom business that can be proud of four generations of involvement."
In 1963 Mr Rod Forward, a local builder and property developer, recognized the need for a builders and plumbers merchant in the area. Behind the counter his father William become invaluable with his experience in the plumbing trade.
The first shop was opened in South view Road Crowborough, with the business rapidly expanding moving to a larger premises in Church Road became a necessity, now employing a number of staff dealing with an extensive stock, from heavy goods to bathrooms, kitchens and all related builders equipment - in fact anything from a bag of cement to a cast iron bath!

In 1973 Rod moved the business to the present premises in Whitehill Road.
The 1980's were a time of survival of the fittest (not unlike present times!) and specialization was the key to success and assisted by his wife Joan and his son Alan, bathrooms now become the core of the business. Soon all three floors were filled to the ceiling with baths, basins and loos!
Although advertising as 'The Bath Shop' the company was still trading as 'Crowborough Builders Supplies', when youngest Son Clive came into the company the first thing was to officially change the trading name to 'THE CROWBOROUGH BATH SHOP'
